A driver crashed her SUV into a CVS pharmacy in Elmont Saturday afternoon, causing "severe damage" but no injuries, according to Nassau County police.

The 2013 BMW plowed into the building on Dutch Broadway after the 64-year-old driver stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brakes, police said. No one was injured, but the crash damaged the building's brick and stucco facade as well as shelving inside the store, photos from the scene showed.

Bricks and building insulation were also strewn on the sidewalk. Elmont firefighters also responded to the crash, which was reported just after 2 p.m.

Police said Hempstead Town building inspectors were at the scene to determine whether the crash caused structural damage. Hempstead Town Building Department officials could not be reached for more information on Saturday afternoon. A woman who answered the phone at the CVS said the store was closed, but did not provide an anticipated reopening timeline or comment further.
