Cops seek man who broke into home, shot at couple
Police are searching for a gunman who kicked in the door of a home in Roosevelt late Tuesday afternoon, firing a shot at a couple sleeping in a rear bedroom before attacking a male victim -- and fleeing on foot.
No one was seriously injured in the attack, which occurred at a home on East Roosevelt Avenue just before 5:30 p.m., Nassau County police said.
They said the victims -- a 36-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman -- were sleeping in a rear bedroom when the male suspect kicked in the door and "discharged one round from a handgun." The male victim then attempted to tackle the suspect, who police said hit him in the head with the gun.
The suspect then fled.
The male victim suffered a scalp laceration, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information about the break-in to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
