A jogger who was killed on Friday when she was hit by a sport utility vehicle has been identified by Nassau County police as a Garden City South woman.

Police said Irene Puswald, 64, was struck by a 2003 Honda CRV just before noon Friday as she jogged on Kensington Road near Salisbury Avenue in Garden City.

Puswald suffered trauma and was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead that afternoon, police said.

Puswald's family declined to comment about the accident.

The Honda's driver, a 43-year-old West Hempstead woman, was not injured.

Police said the collision was an accident, adding that there was no criminality involved in the case.
