Homicide Squad detectives said Jin Lin, 48, and her daughter, 15, were attempting to walk across Northern Boulevard, south to north, just west of Copley Road at about 7:10 p.m.
They were hit by a 2005 Hyundai Elantra, which was traveling west on Northern Boulevard.
Lin was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, where she was pronounced dead.
Her daughter also was taken to a hospital “for treatment of nonfatal injuries,” police said in a news release.
