Injury sidelines W.T. Clarke teen for homecoming football, but not band

W.T. Clarke High School junior Jordan Moldowsky was looking forward to playing in Saturday's homecoming game against Island Trees, but had to sit out with a broken hand. Even though he was not able to play, he came out to support his teammates.

Moldowsky is a team player in more ways than one. The teen is also a drummer in the school's marching band. He broke his hand in a football game last week, but says he was unaware of the injury for days. In fact, he played in two marching band events with that hand before getting the bad news.

Clarke football coach John Boyle said that he admires Moldowsky.

"He is just a great kid," he said. "His dedication to the football team and marching band is amazing. He will be back and playing with us soon."

Moldowsky said that he had to support his team because they too supported him.

"When I broke my hand, they all reached out to me and said that it was OK that I could not play," he said. "I knew I had to come out today for them."

After his team won their homecoming game, Moldowsky posed with them for a group photo.

"Hopefully when we will make it to the playoffs, I will be out on that field," he said, smiling.
