NYPD: Port Washington man recorded under woman's skirt

A Port Washington man was arrested after he placed his iPhone under a woman's skirt and recorded her walking up a stairway at the Union Square subway station in Manhattan, the NYPD said Wednesday.

Karl Sholder, 33, was charged with felony unlawful surveillance at his Tuesday arraignment at criminal court in Manhattan.

He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court Sept. 9, prosecutors said.

Sholder was arrested at about 3:50 p.m. Monday after the arresting officer saw him place his "iPhone directly underneath the woman's dress," according to the criminal complaint.

The officer said in the complaint he "observed that the iPhone was on video mode" and saw Sholder "press the screen when he approached the top of the stairs in order to stop the phone from recording video."

The officer said the woman, wearing a "knee-high flowing dress," told him she was unaware of what Sholder was doing and did not consent to his actions.
