A 36-year-old Bellmore man was killed Sunday in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Tompkins, upstate Delaware County, state police said.

Troopers responding to a 911 call found Keith J. Stratton dead at 9:34 p.m. in a shallow creek bed near the overturned vehicle, police said.

Police said Stratton was at a family party when he decided to take a ride on the all-terrain vehicle.

He was not wearing a helmet, police said, when he failed to negotiate a turn -- and overturned the vehicle into the creek. Police said Stratton was killed on impact.
