Police: Man arrested in Baldwin burglary after teen at home calls cops

A Wantagh man was arrested Friday morning in the backyard of a Baldwin home that a 16-year-old had fled after hearing sounds from a locked bedroom, police said.
Matthew Moziy, 33, of 721 N. William St., was arrested by First Precinct officers after he was seen leaving the rear door carrying a safe and a screwdriver at about 11:17 a.m., according to a release from Nassau County police.
According to detectives, the teen ran out of her home and called 911 after "hearing noises coming from a locked bedroom when no one else was at home," police said.
Police said there were no injuries reported during the burglary.
Moziy faces charges of second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools at his arraignment Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
