Nassau reopens beaches closed because of bacteria
The Nassau County Department of Health has reopened 18 beaches that were closed Thursday, the authority said in a news release.
Laurel Hollow Beach on the North Shore remained closed Friday.
The reopened North Shore beaches are: Centre Island Sound, Creek Club, Lattingtown Beach, Morgan Sound, North Hempstead Beach Park, Piping Rock Beach Club, Prybil Beach, Ransom Beach, Roosevelt Beach, Sea Cliff Village Beach, Soundside Beach, Stehli Beach and Tappen Beach.
The reopened South Shore beaches are Biltmore Beach Club, Hewlett Point Beach, Island Park Beach, Merrick Estates Civic Association and Philip Healey Beach.
