A Brooklyn man with ties to a fatal heroin overdose was arrested Tuesday on drug charges, Nassau County police said.

Justin Velasquez, 36, of Lorimar Street, was awaiting arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead on two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Velasquez had 25 glassine envelopes believed to contain heroin and a plastic bag believed to contain cocaine when he was arrested about 8:10 p.m., police said. Police declined to say where the arrest took place.

Police said in news release that arrest was “in connection with a fatal heroin overdose that occurred March 20” in Hempstead. They offered no details on that case.
