Reports of a possible natural gas leak at an East Garden City eyeglass store Saturday morning have proved to be false, Nassau County police said.

Multiple people at Davis Vision, at 600 Old Country Rd., complained that they felt sick from gas fumes, according to a police spokesman. All refused medical attention.

But a police investigation determined that the odor came from petroleum and was not hazardous. The source of the petroleum was not disclosed.

Hazmat units and ambulances responded to the store at about 11 a.m.
