Police said a 19-year-old Queens woman died from injuries sustained when she was struck by a car at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday while attempting to cross Dutch Broadway in Elmont.

Nassau County police said the victim, Amaya D. George of Astoria, was headed northbound across Dutch Broadway when she was struck by a white 2007 Lexus driven by Fabienne Turenne of Elmont.

George sustained "severe injuries," police said, and was taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, where she was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m.

Police said the accident has been deemed noncriminal, but that the investigation is continuing.
