Roosevelt Field officials said they will reopen the mall Thursday at 10 a.m. after a small fire and smoke closed it Wednesday.
No one was injured in the fire, which broke out at 6:45 p.m., forcing the mall's first floor to be evacuated, according to fire officials.
Nassau County fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire, which fire officials and Nassau police said began in the basement on the west side of the mall.
Officials said the fire was contained to an elevator room in a truck tunnel, where supplies for stores are received. Elevator hydraulic fluid became heated and caught on fire, Westbury Fire Department Chief Patrick Cody said.
"The fire was under control within ten minutes," he said.
Mall officials could not be reached for comment.
