A former resident of a Roosevelt homeless shelter was arrested Tuesday and charged with lighting the facility on fire in October after he got into a fight with another resident, Nassau County police said.

Djuan Ross, 18, whom police said has no known address, faces arson and assault charges in the Oct. 18 incident, after an investigation by the arson bomb squad.

Ross was asked to leave the Peace Valley Haven residence, 86 Park Ave., after a fight with another man, police said, and then he returned to set fire to the rear of the house using lighter fluid.

All 19 residents of the shelter were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported, police said.

Ross was arrested Tuesday in Westbury. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
