Police: Pa. man charged with trying to rob man after leaving Massapequa Park bar

A Pennsylvania man was arrested and charged with attempting to rob a man after leaving a Massapequa Park bar Saturday evening, Nassau police said Sunday.
Steven Fitzgibbon, 25, of Shiremanstown, Pennsylvania, had been at Woody's bar located on Park Boulevard when he left with a man, 59, around 6 p.m. and, police said, attempted to take the victim's wallet.
A struggle ensued, at which time Fitzgibbon punched the victim, causing a large cut to his head before fleeing.
Fitzgibbon was arrested at the Massapequa Park railroad station. Police said they found he had a switchblade knife and marijuana.
While in custody at the Seventh Precinct, he punched through a wall, causing an undetermined amount of damage, police said.
Fitzgibbon was charged with third degree robbery, third degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth degree criminal mischief and unlawful possession of marijuana.
He was arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead, where he was held on bail of $50,000 cash or bond.
