Teen, 15, accused of punching crossing guard in East Rockaway
A 15-year-old East Rockaway High School student was arrested after allegedly punching a crossing guard in the face, Nassau County police said.
Police said the guard was on duty at the intersection of Centre Avenue and Forest Avenue in East Rockaway on Wednesday at about 3:30 p.m. when the student punched her for no apparent reason.
After being punched, police said, the guard flagged down a passing on-duty Nassau County detective, who arrested the suspect.
The crossing guard was treated at a hospital for face lacerations and released, police said.
The student was released to a parent, police said, and will appear in Nassau County family court on assault and obstruction charges.
