Teen on bike struck in hit and run dies
A 16-year-old bicyclist was pronounced dead at an area hospital Thursday night, two days after he was struck by a motorist who witnesses told police then fled the scene in a sedan, officials said early Friday.
As of Friday morning investigators were still searching for the driver of the car that struck and killed the teenager in Hempstead, police said.

Police said the bicyclist was riding southbound on Clinton Street near Yale Street and Lent Avenue about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck by a gold or tan four-door sedan. After the car hit the teenager, the driver continued southbound on Clinton Street without stopping.
Witness told police the driver was a male about 20 years of age and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. He was last seen driving southbound on Jackson Avenue after the crash, police said.
