Police: Suspect arrested in two Nassau bank robberies

Robbery Squad detectives have made an arrest in connection with two Nassau County bank robberies, police said Friday.
Thomas Donohue, 48, who Nassau police say has no known address, is charged with two counts of third-degree robbery, police said.
Donohue was arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead and ordered held on $500,000 bond or $250,000 cash bail. He is due back in court Tuesday.
Detectives said Donohue entered the TD Bank at 1600 Hempstead Tpke. in East Meadow at about 12:50 p.m. Thursday, demanded money from a teller and then fled with the proceeds
First Precinct officers found Donohue in front of 1 Reckson Plaza in Uniondale, where he was arrested and proceeds from the robbery were recovered.
Detectives also were able to connect Donohue to the robbery of a Capital One Bank at 611 Hempstead Tpke. in West Hempstead on Sept. 9, police said.
No injuries were reported in either robbery.
