The name of the 32-year-old man killed last week in Wantagh when a co-worker backed a vehicle over him has been released by the Nassau police department. 

The victim is Daniel Cicio of Levittown, the department wrote Monday in a news release.

The incident happened about 10:10 a.m. Thursday at the Merrick Jeep Chrysler Dodge service center on Sunrise Highway., a police news release said.

The 20-year-old driver had been backing up a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he struck Cicio, police said. The victim was brought by ambulance to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The name of the employee driving the Jeep was not released Monday. Police also provided no additional information the circumstances leading to Cicio's death.

Automotive service technicians and mechanics are more likely than the average worker to be injured or killed on the job, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
