An Elmont woman testified in court Monday about begging her grandson's father to help her after he allegedly wounded her and killed another man in a 2012 shooting at her home.

"Please don't leave me here to die," Sandra Clarke recalled telling Wilfred Labossiere after a bullet ripped through her abdomen.

Labossiere, 33, a Far Rockaway mechanic, faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of Christopher Mullings, 29. Mullings was the brother of Clarke's godson.

Authorities allege Labossiere, who pleaded not guilty, shot the Roosevelt man after an argument.

Clarke said in a Mineola courtroom that she tried to keep the men apart as their verbal dispute escalated, and Mullings was unarmed when Labossiere opened fire.

Authorities have said Labossiere drove Clarke to a hospital, leaving her there before police later stopped his car and arrested him.

Testimony showed Mullings' brother had been baby-sitting Labossiere's 3-year-old son at the residence before the shooting, which was recorded on videotape.

Defense attorney Anthony Grandinette told jurors that what happened was a tragedy fostered by an emotionally charged incident after Mullings physically advanced on Labossiere, who fired his gun because he feared death or serious injury. But Assistant District Attorney Martin Meaney said Labossiere committed murder, and it wasn't an accident or a case of self-defense.

Labossiere faces up to 25 years to life in prison if the jury convicts him of murder.
