An alleged hoarder's house that caught fire in Brentwood on Saturday morning has been demolished as a safety hazard, police said.
The home at 38 Nostrand Ave. was packed floor to ceiling with clothing, boxes, furniture and more, Suffolk Police said. The seven or eight residents left the home on their own before officials arrived, authorities said.
"It was definitely a hoarder's environment," police arson investigator Det. Terrence Keough said.
Arson isn't suspected, but the cause is still being investigated. "It was a giant house fire," Keough said of the 4:09 a.m. blaze.
According to property records, the house is owned by 62-year-old Linda Roiser, who was not available for comment.
