Police are still looking for anyone with information that might help explain why a Commack man was in the roadway when he was struck and killed by a car on Route 454 early Sunday in Commack.

Sgt. Frank Catalina of the Suffolk County police Fourth Squad said Monday investigators still don't know where Brian Dorak, 30, was headed or what he was doing in the roadway when he was struck 12:27 a.m. Sunday near Apple Lane.

Police said Guy Gulutz, 39, of East Northport, the driver of the Mazda RX8 that struck Dorak, told them Dorak just appeared out of nowhere.

No charges have been filed against Gulutz, who was treated for minor injuries at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown and released. Dorak was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County medical examiner's office, police said.

Police impounded the vehicle, and the investigation is continuing. Police ask anyone with more information to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8441.
