Cops: Deer Park man charged with luring teen boy in East Islip
A Deer Park man was arrested and charged with luring a child after he solicited a teenage boy on an East Islip street to perform a sexual act, police said. The attempt was thwarted by the boy's guardian, who happened to be driving past the scene and took down a license plate number, Suffolk County police said.
Peter Grube, 29, of West 11th Street was charged with luring a child and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance when he was arrested Tuesday afternoon.
Police said Grube was driving along Wyandanch Avenue near Main Street at about 3:10 p.m. when he spotted the boy, 14, and "solicited the child to perform a sexual act."
The boy's guardian, who happened to be driving by, noted the odd scenario and intervened. As Grube fled, police said, the guardian jotted down his license plate number and called police.
Grube was stopped a short while later as he headed west on Union Boulevard in Bay Shore. He was found to be in illegal possession of prescription drugs, police said.
The boy was not harmed.
Grube is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Central Islip.
