The driver who was killed Saturday when her 2005 Ford Mustang struck a utility pole on Townline Road in Hauppauge was identified by police Monday as a Nesconset woman.

Linda Amatucci, 49, lost control of the silver Mustang as she traveled east near the intersection of Mount Pleasant Road Saturday at 5:10 p.m., Suffolk County police said.

The car left the road, jumped a curb and struck the pole, police said. Amatucci was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation is continuing.
