Police have identified a pedestrian killed in an early morning accident Thursday on East Jericho Turnpike as a South Huntington man.

William Prucha, 45, was crossing the road when, Suffolk County police said, he was struck by a westbound car at about 4:45 a.m. near Evergreen Avenue on the South Huntington-Huntington Station border. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, Lewis Weill, 64, of Commack, remained at the scene and was not charged.

The road was closed between Beverly and Depot roads until about 8:15 a.m. Thursday.
