Police have identified the victim of a fatal two-car accident that closed the Southern State Parkway for six hours Sunday as a 25-year-old Queens man.

Bishnu Dinanauth of Woodhaven was killed, state police said, after his white 1998 Nissan 240X collided with a white 1992 Lexus SC 400 driven by Steve L. Waite, 40, of Jamaica, east of Exit 42, Fifth Avenue, along the West Brentwood-North Bay Shore border at about 1:15 p.m., police said.

After the collision the eastbound Nissan driven by Dinanauth entered the median separating the eastbound and westbound lanes and struck "several trees," according to police.

Dinanauth was pronounced dead at the scene.

Waite was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where, police said, he was treated and released.

No one has been charged in the accident. Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation and have asked anyone who may have information regarding the incident to contact state police investigator James Chadwick at 631-231-6389. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
