Suffolk police have identified the woman who was seriously injured in a West Babylon car crash on Friday as Karissa Uettwiller of Lindenhurst.

Uettwiller, 26, was struck by a vehicle while crossing Route 109 in West Babylon, police said. She remained hospitalized at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

Police are still investigating the accident. According to police reports, Don Gorham, 19, of Lindenhurst, struck Uettwiller while driving a 2000 BMW sedan eastbound on Route 109 near Straight Path.

Gorham's vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said.

Police ask that anyone with information about the accident call the First Squad at 631-854-8138 or CrimeStoppers at 800-220-TIPS. Calls will remain confidential, police said.
