A mother in West Babylon found her toddler drowning Saturday night in the swimming pool of their home, Suffolk County Police said.

The toddler, Chloe Acosta, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in critical condition, the spokeswoman said.

A 2-year-old girl remained in critical condition Sunday night, Suffolk police said.

Milton Acosta, the girl's grandfather, called police at 7:10 p.m. Saturday after Kimberly Acosta, the girl's mother, found her unresponsive in the pool behind 1019 Fourth Street in West Babylon, police said.

West Babylon Fire Department responded and performed CPR on the toddler.
