A Huntington man killed Thursday had been wounded in two separate shootings last summer, Suffolk County police said Saturday.

Cory Culberth, 21, was fatally shot in the torso at a home on Cutting Street in Huntington about 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Police do not have a suspect or a motive for the shooting.

Culberth was injured by gunfire twice in July, police said.

The first shooting occurred July 12, with Culberth shot in both legs while standing on Birch Street in Greenlawn, police said.

Five days later, he was shot multiple times in his abdomen and left arm as he stood in front of 6 Wall St. in Huntington. Another bullet grazed his head, police said.

Police arrested Arthur Ellis, 28, of Greenlawn, in connection with the July shootings. He was charged with first- and second-degree assault.

Police are investigating whether last week's fatal shooting is related to the prior attacks.

Elaine Robinson, Culberth's aunt, said she had no idea why someone would repeatedly target her nephew.

"He was such a fun, loving person," said Robinson, who raised Culberth. "He would never bring harm to anyone."
