Police: Brentwood woman hit, killed on East Deer Park Road

A 42-year-old woman was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle early Wednesday in Dix Hills, Suffolk police said.
Police said Felicia Romero, of Brentwood, was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Traverse driven by William Ackerman, 48, of Northport, as she attempted to cross northbound East Deer Park Road at 12:13 a.m.
The road is the connector between Route 231, Deer Park Avenue, and Jericho Turnpike.
Police said that Romero was crossing from east to west when she was struck.
She was taken to Huntington Hospital by Dix Hills Rescue, but was pronounced dead a short time later, police said. Police said that Ackerman was not injured in the crash.
Ackerman also was not charged. His vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
Police are asking anyone with information about the fatal accident to call Second Squad detectives at 631-854-8252. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
