Firefighters trying to rescue six people after boat runs aground in Great South Bay, officials say
Islip firefighters were working to rescue six people after a boat ran aground Saturday night in the Great South Bay, off Islip harbor, Suffolk County fire officials said.
Firefighters were in the water trying to save three adults and three children about 11 p.m., fire officials said.
One man fell down three steps and landed headfirst into a bulkhead, officials said. He regained consciousness and was being treated by firefighter paramedics. No other injuries were reported.
