Hauppauge district adopts school budget
The board of education of the Hauppauge School District Tuesday night unanimously adopted a $97.2 million budget for 2011-2012, a 3.35 percent increase over the current school year.
The proposed tax levy would go up about $2.5 million, or 3.46 percent, according to the board.
For Islip homeowners, the average home with assessed value of $52,290 would pay $5,585, an increase of $184, or 3.4 percent, over the current year.
For Smithtown homeowners, the average home with assessed value of $6,017 would pay $5,021, an increase of $168, or 3.46 percent, over the current year.
A public hearing on the budget will be held May 11 at 8 p.m. in the James Baxter Board Room at the Whiporwil School building, 495 Hoffman Lane. The vote is May 17.
