A school nurse and a Suffolk police officer revived a 10-year-old boy found unresponsive Wednesday afternoon at Laurel Park Elementary School in Brentwood, officials said.

Third Precinct Patrol Officer John McAuley, a member of the department's Medical Crisis Action Team, responded to a call from the school and arrived at about 2:45 p.m. and soon realized the boy had no pulse, police said.

The school nurse started chest compressions on the child while McAuley began ventilations using a bag valve mask device, police said.

The nurse and officer continued CPR for about two minutes at which time the boy regained consciousness.

An ambulance transported the boy to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where police said he was in stable condition.
