A Patchogue man was injured Wednesday night when he lost control of his vehicle and overturned several times as it traveled on the Long Island Expressway in Calverton.

Police said John Parry, 26, was driving a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer shortly before 8:10 p.m. when he collided with the shoulder of the roadway and overturned before coming to rest in the median between the eastbound exit ramps of Exits 72 and Exit 73.

Parry was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital by a Suffolk County Police Department helicopter, police said. His injuries were later determined to be nonlife threatening.
