Leland Acampora and Woody Zalman killed in Route 25A crash, police say

Two men were killed and a third man was seriously injured in a one-car crash Tuesday morning in Fort Salonga, Suffolk County police said.
Leland Acampora, 26, of Hauppauge was driving a Hyundai Sonata west on Route 25A, Fort Salonga Road, near Makamah Road about 4:30 a.m. “when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree,” police said in a news release.
Acampora and rear-seat passenger Woody Zalman, 26, of Commack were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Front-seat passenger Paul Weingart, 26, of East Northport was taken by police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said. He was in serious condition.
Police are investigating the crash and urging anyone with information to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
