A Southampton man has been charged in the sexual abuse of a 10-year-old girl last year, Southampton Town Police reported Monday.

Pedro Vladimir Quishpe, 34, was arrested Friday in Hampton Bays and was remanded at his arraignment Saturday. He is being held in Suffolk County Jail on a cash bail of $15,000, police said.

Police said the incident with the child occurred in the spring of 2011. Quishpe is charged with first-degree sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.

Quishpe also is being held on a detainer by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, police said.
