Suffolk County police Sunday arrested a North Babylon man in connection with a New Year's Eve hit-and-run accident in West Islip that critically injured a teenager.

Also arrested were the passenger in the car at the time of the accident and the driver's girlfriend, who police said tried to cover up the crash.

The male victim has been in critical condition at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip since the accident. He has not been identified.

Police said the victim was discovered at 10:26 p.m. on Udall Avenue after he was hit by a 2012 Chrysler 300 driven by Kristofer Busching, 25, of 150 Prairie Dr. Busching was charged with first-degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident with serious physical injury, fifth-degree conspiracy, criminal mischief and petty larceny.

Passenger Carlo Caamano, 19, of 1120 Namdac Ave., and Busching's girlfriend, Alicia Santamaria, 23, of 21 Brentwood Road, both of Bay Shore, were charged with second-degree hindering prosecution and fifth-degree conspiracy.

In addition, Caamano was charged with criminal mischief and petty larceny.

All three are expected to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip Monday.
