Man driving 94 mph in Tiana faces drug charges: police
A Hampton Bays man stopped on suspicion of driving 94 mph in a 55-mph zone on Sunrise Highway in Tiana Thursday night was also carrying Xanax, marijuana and crack cocaine, State Police said.
The incident took place Thursday at 9:58 p.m., police said, near Route 24, Exit 65.
A state trooper stopped Salvatore Rizzo, 37, of Ocean Avenue, doing 94 mph in his white Honda Accord, according to a report. Police said Rizzo "produced a pack of Newport cigarettes which contained 10 dosage units of Xanax." Found in Rizzo's front pocket was a plastic bag containing one gram of marijuana, and two clear plastic bags containing a gram of crack cocaine were also found "inside the vehicle."
Rizzo was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of marijuana, having a controlled substance not in its original container and several traffic violations, police said.
He is scheduled to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court on Sept. 8 at 1 p.m.
