Pedestrian hit, killed in Selden, police say

A vehicle struck a pedestrian on Route 25 in Selden on Saturday night, killing the pedestrian, Suffolk County police said.
Police said the crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m. when a 2013 Kia Soul heading west on Route 25 at College Road struck the pedestrian.
The victim, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the Kia, Mary McCabe, 51, of Coram, was not injured, police said.
Criminality is not suspected, police said, but they ask anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
