Police: Burglar sought in theft of nearly $6,000 from The Smoke Shop
Police are searching for a burglar who stole approximately $5,800 in cigarettes and cash from a Wading River smoke shop early Tuesday. The theft included about 50 cartons of cigarettes, Riverhead Town police said.
Police said the theft was discovered at about 1 a.m. by officers responding to a commercial alarm at The Smoke Shop on Route 25A in Wading River. Officers found broken glass and a brick used to break the glass front door, police said.
Police said the suspect fled on foot, but said a search of the area failed to turn up a suspect.
