Police hope for help in fatal accident
Police were hoping more witnesses and an accident reconstruction analysis would help determine what happened during a Centereach crash that killed two people, Suffolk County Det. Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick said Friday.
Two passengers, Christopher Riley, 22, and Talor Reardon, 19, both of Centereach, died in the two-vehicle crash Thursday on Middle Country Road, Suffolk police said.
"The investigation is still going on," Fitzpatrick said Friday. "I'm hoping we hear from more witnesses."
He added that accident reconstruction investigators could take some time to figure out what went wrong because of the amount of damage to the cars.
Riley and Reardon were passengers in a 2001 Nissan Maxima driven by Ryan Curley, 21, of Centereach, police said.
Curley's car was eastbound just west of Wood Road at 6:58 p.m. when it hit a curb and went out of control, police said. The car crossed over a double yellow line and collided with an oncoming passenger van driven by Patricia Henry, 45, of Central Islip.
Riley and Reardon were taken to Stony Brook Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
Curley and Henry were also taken to the Stony Brook and were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
