A Ridge woman was arraigned Sunday on charges that she robbed a savings and loan branch in Ridge two days earlier.

At her arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on third-degree robbery charges, Louwanda Jackson, 46, pleaded not guilty and was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.

Suffolk County police said Jackson went to the Astoria Federal Savings branch at 1880 Middle Country Rd. last Friday morning and demanded cash from the teller, who she also threatened with violence.

After getting the money, Jackson ran from the bank on foot, police said.

An officer caught Jackson in the parking lot and recovered the cash, according to police.

Jackson is due back in court on Friday.
