Many engaged couples stress over the finite details of their wedding, all while trying to make sure their special day is perfect and magical.

But a magical wedding doesn't always include a thousand-dollar gown and an open bar at the reception.

When Scott and Leonora Heinrich-Scheller decided they wanted to get married after dating since 2005, they called up their friend James Skidmore, the manager of Toast Coffeehouse in Patchogue.

Skidmore, an ordained minister, agreed to marry the two.

"I said sure, let's meet up sometime," Skidmore told GreaterPatchogue.com. “And [Scott] said, 'Well, I have the paperwork in the car, can we come into Toast?'"

The couple went to the coffee shop, where Skidmore filled out the paperwork right at the counter on Sunday, Nov. 20.

Brandon Elsbree, another friend of the couple, stopped off at the restaurant for breakfast that morning when he was asked to be their witness.

"I said of course," Elsbree said.

Initially, only fellow patrons at the bar knew the couple was tying the knot, according to Skidmore.

“But people started to talk in the dining room and the next thing you know, everybody was looking at us," Skidmore told GreaterPatchogue.com. “The 125 people in the place didn’t know they were going to witness a wedding, but I pronounced them man and wife and the place went nuts.”

"Scott and Leonora have been dating for 11 years and no matter where they'd have done it, it'd be just as special to them. They're not overly fancy people, they're just good and nice people," Elsbree said. "I think wherever you find love, that's where you do it."
