A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a sport utility vehicle on Route 25 in Selden on Wednesday night, police said.

The accident occurred near Independence Plaza at 9:24 p.m., Suffolk County police said. The motorcyclist, identified by police as Daniel O'Brien of Selden, died at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 2006 Ford Freestyle, identified as Glenda Chan, 52, also of Selden, was not hurt.

Police said she remained at the scene and was not charged.

Suffolk police said the investigation is continuing.

Police said indications are that O'Brien was riding his 2009 Kawasaki east on Route 25 west of Boyle Road when Chan, driving her Ford west on Route 25, tried to make a left turn into a shopping center in front of him.

Police are asking for anyone with information about the crash to call Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers 800-220-TIPS.
