A seventh-grader had a medical episode at her Three Village school and later died, the district said Wednesday.

In a letter to students and faculty posted at the Three Village Central School District website, Superintendent Cheryl Pedisich said Gabriella Beals-Reid, a student at P.J. Gelinas Junior High School, died unexpectedly on Monday.

Suffolk County police said they responded to a 2 p.m. call from the school in Setauket about a student needing medical attention.

A spokeswoman for the district said the student had a medical episode and was taken from the school by ambulance to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Pedisich in her letter said Beals-Reid was a talented and creative writer and gifted musician who played the French horn.

The letter offered condolences to the family and said a support team of psychologists, counselors and social workers would be made available to students, families and staff members.

“We will continue to provide these support services as needed and for as long as necessary,” Pedisich said in her letter.
