A 16-month old Brentwood infant was revived Thursday night by a Suffolk police officer after the child fell into a pool, police said.

At about 7:47 p.m., police said they responded to 9 Bishop Rd. on a call of a baby found unresponsive in a pool.

Third Precinct Patrol Officer Ramses Cerdas scaled a neighboring fence of the home, immediately grabbed the baby from his mother and began performing CPR about two minutes later. The baby eventually started breathing on his own, police said in a statement.

The baby was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, police said, adding that the child was awake, fully alert and responsive.

The Town of Islip investigator responded to check the legality of the pool installation.
