Two injured in Deer Park crash after Suffolk police pursuit of intoxicated driver, officials say

Two people were treated at separate hospitals after a police pursuit of an alleged drunken driver ended with a two-vehicle crash in Dix Hills Tuesday night, Suffolk County police said.
Police said a First Precinct officer in Deer Park initiated the pursuit of a 2010 Mercedes C300 at Grand Boulevard and Carlls Straight Path at 9:55 p.m. The officer lost sight of the Mercedes, but found it again in Dix Hills at northbound Carlls Straight Path and the Long Island Expressway overpass, where the vehicle hit a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500, police said.
The male driver of the Dodge was not hurt, but his son, whose age was not given, was taken to Huntington Hospital with minor injuries, police said.
The male driver of the Mercedes was charged with driving while intoxicated and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with minor injuries, Police said. He was not identified by police late Tuesday night.
