It's about halfway to Halloween, so there's still plenty of time to visit a haunted house, check out a frightful festival and sneak in some more spooky fun on Long Island.

A new local space that looks like a horror movie set with selfie stations has just opened, and it's already gettin' creepy. The 2,700-square-foot redesigned space features a front room with a bar plus a backroom lounge. The theme is based on fictitious director Mr. Crow, a horror filmmaker who's notorious for torturing his actors. There will be a series of theme nights coming up, which include horror movie trivia, '80s Slasher Night, a Zombie Prom and more.
Get crafty with the kids

If you're looking for more delights than frights, especially with kids in tow, you're in luck. Later this month, three LI malls will be hosting free Halloween events inspired by Disney Junior television shows, such as "Vampirina," "Puppy Dog Pals" and "T.O.T.S." Kids (and adults!) can come in costume and enjoy face painting, (not-so) spooky crafts, a balloon artist and trick-or-treating at participating stores.

Newsday's food critic, Scott Vogel, even tried some of the treats.
