Anthony Abidin of Half Hollow Hills East earned three pins, including one in 2:35 over Newfield's Jesse DiLevo, in the 125-pound final of the League III wrestling championships at Smithtown East Saturday.

Abidin, who also had a technical fall, won his third league title in four years and was named most outstanding wrestler.

East Islip won its third straight team title with 218.5 points, 24.5 better than second-place Smithtown East. Dave Dellavecchia (119 pounds), Tyler Conway (171) and Chris Chambers (189) each won titles for East Islip.

Dellavecchia won his third straight league title. He pinned Tom Fenster in 1:42 in the final. Dellavecchia had the most pins in the least time with four in 9:17.

Boone sparkles, Eagles soar.

Justin Boone of Copiague earned a technical fall, 19-4, over Pat Thomas of Riverhead in the 135-pound final at the League IV championships at Comsewogue. Boone was named most outstanding wrestler of the event. West Babylon won the team title with 228.5 points behind champions Steven Lee (96 pounds), Gabriel Barreiro (119), Leiaje Sidberry (125), Michael Richardson (140) and Reggie Robinson (285).

One-point win for a Mustang.

Mount Sinai's Frank Abbondanza earned a 1-0 win over Glenn's Joe Giaramita in a battle of defending All-County wrestlers in the 189-pound final of the League VI tournament at Mount Sinai. Glenn, the defending Suffolk champion, had four champions: James Dekrone (130 pounds), Kevin Massa (160), Luke Prohaske (171) and Mike Pinto (285). At 140 pounds, Mount Sinai's Eric Kogel, the county runner-up a year ago, earned a 9-6 win over Amityville's Mark Jerrick.
