CALEDONIA, N.Y. -- Amityville's Sancho Barrett made big plans in the weeks leading into the spring track season: Win a Federation championship and run sub-14 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles.

The championship goal was met Saturday as Barrett won the 110 hurdle Federation title in 14.26 seconds at the track and field championships at Caledonia-Mumford High School.

It was the second straight 110 outdoor Federation hurdle title for Barrett.

His time goal was set at the Suffolk state qualifier last week as he won the event in 13.98 seconds. The Penn State-bound senior was a bit disappointed he didn't hit the 13-second mark in the final, but he gladly accepted his first-place medal.

"Most of all I wanted the win, but if I could get the 13 again it would have been just as good," said Barrett.

It's been a long senior year for Barrett, who struggled with a right hamstring injury during the indoor season. "It's been a rocky senior season for me," Barrett said. "I missed out on the indoor state championships, but I came back in the outdoor and defended my title."

Long Beach's Josh Trone was hoping he'd get a shot at a state championship in the 100. That hope took a bit of a beating in the trial and Division I final as Trone failed to win either event.

But the senior ran the race of his life in the Federation final, winning in a personal best time of 10.84 seconds.

"I realized it during the last 50 meters I had a chance," Trone said. "My coach said to take it in the last 50 meters."

Like Trone, a Federation title didn't seem in the cards for Bay Shore junior Kadesh Roberts. The junior took third in the 400 hurdles at the Division I final.

But he finished with a fast enough time to advance to the Federation final. Roberts took advantage of the opportunity, edging Longwood's Joe Payton (53.96) in 53.80 seconds.

It was a reversal of fortune as Payton won the Division I 400 hurdle title (53.46) on Friday, edging Roberts.

"Last year I was just happy to get to states," Roberts said. "But this year I wanted to win it all. And the experience from last year was a big help."

The Long Island boys had several winners on the state level, too.

Kings Park's Brandon Reynolds took the Division I shot put title with a toss of 53 feet, 6 inches, Baldwin's Ieshawn Johnson won the Division I discus championship (178-7), while Southampton's 4x400 relay squad of Nicholas Collazos, James Cowell, Owen Laub, Adrain Simioni won the Division II title in 3:22.84.

St. John the Baptist's boys 4x800 team of Hunter Burrell, Seitu Solomon, Brandon Camenzuli and Sean Ferguson didn't come home with a first-place medal, but the Cougars turned in a marvelous effort, taking second in a Suffolk County-record time of 7:42.93, besting Commack's mark of 7:43.5 set in 1982.

Baldwin's 4x400 relay team of Jarrek Babb, Treyvon Mask, Kirk Staine and Justin Mahoney also put forth a great performance, finishing second in a school-record time of 3:15.3.
